As the snow keeps falling down outside creating chaos, the CaseClosed team is dreaming about traveling to a tropical island far far away..
To make the travel as convenient and stress free as possible, we aim to create a smart travelling companion: the SmartCase! Below is an overview of possible functionality for the prototype. It’s a lot, but we will do our best to implement as much of it as possible.

Our main object is a suitcase that will have various sensors and functionality connected to it. One of the most important features is that the wheels can be remote controlled, so that you don’t have to drag your suitcase around the airport! The suitcase will contain temperature, altitude, humidity and weight sensors, that will send information to the cloud. A native mobile app will display this information to the user. In addition, the suitcase will use Wifi to keep track of its location, so that in case it’s lost, the user can simply find out where it is by using the app. There is also a luggage tag screen that will display whatever text the user wants, which can be changed in the app.
A person with a smart suitcase is likely to carry a lot of expensive things that they don’t want to get stolen. Therefore, the suitcase needs to be properly secured. Our planned lock mechanism incorporates a camera and face recognition. In addition, it will be possible to use an RFID tag in case you need someone else to open the suitcase.
Travelling can be stressful, and it is easy to get distracted and leave your passport or credit card behind when you’re trying to reach your plane. That is why we are creating a couple of small gadgets to add to your important objects, and the suitcase will alert you over its speaker if they fall out of range. Finally, there will be a couple of buttons with various practical (or just entertaining) use.
